Colin Firth Joins Cast Of Prime Video’s ‘Young Sherlock’

According to Comicbook, Prime Video’s Young Sherlock series created by Guy Ritchie (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man) has just added Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Empire of Light) to the cast.

Firth is no stranger to films and series that revolve around mystery and action. He is a versatile actor who has played many roles, from a spy in the Kingsman franchise to musicals like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Firth will play the role of Sir Bucephalus Hodge alongside other cast members, including Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After We Collided, After Everything) as Young Sherlock Holmes, Joseph Fiennes (The Mother, The Handmaid’s Tale) and Natascha McElhone (Solaris, Ronin) as Sherlock’s parents and Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem, Learning English) as Princess Gulun Shou’an. The rest of the cast and their roles have yet to be announced.

As per Comicbook, the series will be based on the novels by Andy Lane (Night Break, All-Consuming Fire), which revolve around a younger Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock will be 19 years of age in the series, and it will follow his adventures as the “disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed Sherlock finds himself tangled up in a murder mystery at Oxford University. The inexperienced Sherlock dives into his first-ever case, unraveling a globe-trotting conspiracy that will forever change his life. “With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes features, Young Sherlock will be an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character.”

Ritchie has previously said, “In Young Sherlock we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before. We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.”

Young Sherlock has yet to announce an official premiere date, but it is speculated that it will air sometime in 2025.
