For the first time since the action show premiered on Cinemax in 2011, the original British Sky 1 produced first season will air in the U.S., The Los Angeles Times reports.
Cinemax partnered with Sky 1 to bring the action packed counter-terrorism show to The States, bolstering its budget, but also recasting the entire show as well as ignoring the first season that aired in the UK. The first episode of the Cinemax season (season 2 overall) began with the execution of a British special forces agent in Pakistan, a nod to the way the first season ended. That is the only connection American audiences had to the source material. Until now, Cinemax has announced that it will air all six original episodes in a series entitled Strike Back: Origins. The first season starts Richard Armitage, most notably from the BBC series Robin Hood, and Andrew Lincoln, now the star of The Walking Dead, as British special forces agents sent in to rescue hostages that have been taken due to a mission one of them ran in Iraq in 2003.
Strike Back: Origins will air on Cinemax beginning tonight, Friday 10/9c.
