An upcoming Dick Wolf NBC drama will feature the return of the beloved Law & Order: Special Victims Unit character Elliot Stabler, according to Deadline. Elliot Stabler established himself as a fan favorite in the Law & Order franchise during his long partnership with fellow SVU detective Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay). NYPD Detective Stabler is portrayed by Christopher Meloni (Oz and True Blood) throughout his duration on the series. Meloni’s Stabler was a lead character in the Law & Order spinoff from 1999 until his exit from the series in 2011, amassing a total of 272 episodes.
The untitled Wolf drama series will be set in the Law & Order world and will be under the direction from executive producers Arthur W. Forney (Chicago P.D.), Peter Jankowski (Chicago Fire), and Wolf (Law & Order and FBI) himself. The collection of producers have collaborated on each of the series created by Wolf Entertainment in the last thirty years. Wolf’s series starring Meloni will follow the detective character as he leads an NYPD organized crime unit. With the addition of the development for this series, the upcoming series will be joining Wolf’s collection of other on-going series which includes Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med.
Although there is no confirmed premiere date nor further details for the series, excitement is through the roof for Law & Order fans as they get to witness the beloved Detective Stabler back in action in due time. For SVU fans, check out episodes from season 1 to season 21 available now on Hulu.
