According to CNN Entertainment, Christina Applegate (Married… with Children) has recently stated that she will not be returning to TV and film due to multiple diagnoses of sclerosis. She has stated that she is done with on-screen work while she is dealing with the effects of the disease. She was diagnosed with MS in August 2021 and has been straightforward about how the disease has affected her life.
According to CNN Entertainment, Applegate told Vanity Fair that during her time on the Netflix dark comedy Dead To Me , she loved working with co-star Linda Cardellini (Scooby-Doo) but the series will probably be her last. The disease affects the central nervous system as well as muscle control
Due to this the series would have to pause production for Applegate would be able to get treatment.
Applegate said, “I’m probably not going to work on-camera again.”
“Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are,” she continued to say, referring to working with co-star Cardellini. “I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known.”
Applegate continued to say, “I miss the experience of it, but at the same time, because it was such an incredible struggle this last year, I’m relieved that I no longer have to push so hard to get through my day.’’
According to Variety, while fans of the series Dead to Me want the series to have a fourth season, it doesn’t seem like Applegate would want to reprise her role as Jen. Applegate will try to shift her focus to voice action instead of being physically on screen. She said, “I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working.”
