Chicago P.D. is taking another story from the news headlines: sexual harassment. This comes in the wake of the allegations of sexual harassment against Kevin Spacey, Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein, Andrew Kreisberg, Mark Schwahn, and the list goes on. Many of which (including the actors listed) have lost their jobs. Chicago P.D. has decided to focus one of their episodes on sexual harassment.
The show did something similar to this earlier in season five with police shootings; when one of the characters accidentally shot a little girl. During this season fans of the show have seen a bit of a change. The show is now more focused on socially-charged views.
Rick Eid, the showrunner, told TV Guide, “We’ve got an exciting episode coming up that deals with sexual misconduct in the police force and in the inner city.” He also said, “One of our characters will be involved in something related to sexual misconduct, as a victim.”
The show looks to make one of its own the victim of sexual misconduct. Eid did not go into specifics like who the victim is; however, we do know this episode will be aired in early 2018. Eid also did not go into who the sexual abuser might be, but it is doubtful it is one of the main characters we as fans have come to know and love. The “inner city” part of the earlier quote might point to a police officer that is with a civilian. Obviously, this is only speculation. We will know for sure in the coming weeks.
This episode comes after Jason Beghe was investigated for inappropriate behavior, but remains on the show because he is receiving anger management coaching.
Chicago P.D. returns on Wednesday night, January 3rd on NBC.
