Charlotte Ritchie (Feel Good) has been cast in Netflix’s hit psychological thriller series, You, according to Variety. Ritchie will play the role of Kate, opposite star Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl).
You follows Badgley’s Joe, a book store manager with an obsessive dark side. In the show’s debut season, Badgley’s character took an interest in Elizabeth Lail’s (Countdown) Beck, which ultimately led to her demise.
The show’s second season saw Joe move to Southern California, where he fell in love with Victoria Pedretti’s (The Haunting of Hill House) Love – an equally deranged version of himself. Later, in the third season, Love and Joe – with a child on the way – fled from their trail of murders in Los Angeles to the Bay Area, only to wreak havoc on its inhabitants.
At the end of season three, Joe left Love, now dead, and his infant son Henry, to move to Europe in search of his latest crush. Ritchie’s character has been described as “fearsomely smart, independent, suspicious,” and immensely loyal to her friends, according to Variety. Especially protective over her best friend, Lady Phoebe, Kate is said to date a self-centered Malcolm, who invites Joe into their friend group.
No other members of the You‘s new cast have been revealed yet, but production on the series is currently underway in Europe.
