Entertainment Weekly reported today that Netflix has released its final Stranger Things trailer in a playful celebration of Friday the 13th. The trailer answers some of our most pressing questions (what was Hopper doing with those Eggo waffles at the end of season 1?) while raising new ones (what exactly is that huge new monster?).
Set to an ominous keyboard soundtrack, the trailer plays heavy on the horror. The new footage suggests that Stranger Things will get bigger, scarier, and more ambitious come season 2. New characters will be joining our old favorite, and it seems like all will be teaming up against the new threat that haunts Hawkings, Indiana.
Earlier this year, one of the show’s stars confirmed that Stranger Things buckles down and becomes even scarier come season 2. Over the summer, Finn Wolfhard (who plays Mike Wheeler on the show) said that, “There are going to be some challenges the characters face that are real, that are disturbing. This season will be a lot more dark, a lot more horror-oriented.” Wolfhard stressed that season 2 will not disappoint, going on to say that, “I think people are going to like it better than the first season.”
The show’s official twitter account recently teased what some of the new chapters to the Stranger Things story will cover, releasing a mini animated video to uncover the titles for season 2’s first six episodes. The titles will be Chapter One: Madmax, Chapter Two: Trick or Treat Freak, Chapter Three: The Pollywog, Chapter Four: Will the Wise, Chapter Five: Dig Dug, and Chapter Six: The Spy.
