According to The Hollywood Reporter, CD Projekt Red and Anonymous Content are teaming up to develop live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077. The series will be set in the universe of the popular game and has just been announced. The series is currently in the early stages of development and searching for a screenwriter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the gaming developers behind Cyberpunk 2077 revealed that the series will be created with close collaboration from the game’s creative team. Garret Kemble (In Waves), Anonymous Content Studios’ head of television, its director of development Ryan Schwartz (Coming to Terms), and CCO David Levine (Saint X) will also be working on the series. Levine is known for serving as HBO’s executive VP and co-head of drama for more than a decade.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action-adventure role-playing game set in a dystopian metropolis of Night City. Night City is located south of San Francisco around the area of Morro Bay, California. In the game series, the United States has to rely on large corporations to survive. These corporations create and deal in weapons, robotics, cybernetics, pharmaceuticals, communications, and biotechnology. The franchise has had a vast amount of success from video games to even a Netflix animated series named Cyberpunk: Edgerunner.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current game for the franchise grew vast amount of popularity due to the character Johnny Silverhand, who is portrayed by Keanu Reeves (John Wick). Reeves even returned to the game series with the new DLC that debuted on September 26th. This installment even stars Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation) as sleeper agent Solomon Reed. Other projects in the franchise include Rafal Kosik’s (Vertical) novel, Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence, and the board game Gangs of Night City.
