CBS To Set Record Winning Streak For The Most-Watched Broadcast Network For The 16th Consecutive TV Season

CBS is going to finish out the season strong. According to Deadline, the network will be looking at the top spot in ratings for the season with over 5.59M viewers per night. Not only does the network hold a vast amount of viewing numbers, but it also now puts CBS as the most-watched broadcast network for a 16th consecutive season.

According to Deadline, CBS has previously held the title of most-watched network for 15-year streak from 1955 to 1970. But with this new record, the streak has been broken as the network passes its 16th season on top. Deadline also reported that the other major broadcast networks are averaging around 5 million viewers per night. To be exact, NBC is averaging at 5.01 million viewers, ABC is holding around 4.29 million and Fox is looking at around 3.35 million viewers.

This record amount of viewers is reported to be due to the amount of popular series that the network airs. One of the most popular is Tracker. The series premiered in February and eventually became the most-watched primetime series of this current broadcast season. Other popular series on the network include Young Sheldon, NCIS, FBI, Ghosts, and The Neighborhood. CBS currently airs over half of the most-watched broadcast series of this past season, and all of the series listed above are among them.

This is also aided by long-running series such as NCIS and by large sports events such as the NFL postseason, and the Super Bowl. This past Super Bowl LVIII brought in approximately 61 billion minutes viewed and over 120 million viewers for the live event itself.

As a whole, the network’s viewer count averages around 10.1 million viewers throughout the entire season run after 35 days of viewing. This also marks CBS with a 5.8% increase of viewership that they had during this period last broadcast season.
