CBS is teaming with Steve Franks once again.
Deadline reports that the Psych creator will be working on Magnolia Springs for CBS, a series that is described as a comedic procedural. Franks recently worked with CBS as executive producer and showrunner of the Rush Hour reboot.
Magnolia Springs takes place in a progressive, quaint town in the American South. The Sheriff of Magnolia Springs soon discovers that his town has a seedy criminal underbelly that has begun to run rampant. The Sheriff, along with his teenage son, works to investigate the town’s secrets and oddball criminal activity.
Franks is most well known as the creator of USA’s long-running hit series Psych. The series ran for eight seasons and 120 episodes, following the misadventures of a fake psychic and his best friend/partner as they investigate crimes in Santa Barbara. It starred James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen, and Kirsten Nelson.
Magnolia Springs was written by Franks, and will be executive produced by Franks and fellow Psych EP Chris Henze of Thruline Entertainment for CBS TV Studios.
