The Good Wife was a longstanding political and legal drama from 2009 to 2016. The show featured a cavalcade of talent, from Julianna Margulies to Christine Baranski to Alan Cumming. Margulies played Alicia Florrick, the wife of Cook County’s State Attorney, who finally returns to her legal career after her husband was involved in an intense political and sexual scandal. The series was created by Robert and Michelle King and enjoyed five Emmy wins and numerous other accolades during its seven season run. Now CBS is planning to unleash more of the legal team’s troubles since the May finale in the new series The Good Fight.
Robert and Michelle King have assumed the roles of executive producers and showrunners, keeping The Good Wife DNA going strong. As reported before by mxdwn, the spinoff will follow Christine Baranski character, Diane Lockhart, from the original series. Rose Leslie, Bernadette Peters, Justin Bartha, and Cush Jumbo are also slated to star in the spinoff.
Variety announced today that CBS is planning a big push for the CBS All Access Service in order to premiere The Good Fight on February 19. The series will be the first original scripted series for the streaming service. New episodes of The Good Fight will premiere every Sunday on All Access, instead of releasing the full season at one time.
