The pilot for medical drama Code Black has been picked up by CBS as well as comedy pilot The Half Of It.
On Tuesday, CBS added to the ever popular medical drama category by giving a pilot order to Code Black from Intelligence creator Michael Seitzman. The Network also announced a pickup for The Half Of It.
Code Black is based on a critically acclaimed documentary of the same name from Ryan McGarry. The show follows the inner-workings of the busiest emergency room at at Los Angeles County Hospital. At the time of sale, Seitzman said “Code Black is literally a death-defying look at today’s world of medicine told from the boots on the ground at LA County Hospital.” According to Deadline, David Semel will direct the pilot from ABC Studios and CBS Studios. Seitzman and McGarry will executive produce the pilot with McGarry, the documentary’s producer Linda Knowlton and executive producer Marti Noxon. Code Black marks Seitzman’s third CBS project to go to pilot, including House Rules and Intelligence. t is also CBS’ first medical drama pilot. Code Black brings CBS’ drama pilot load to five, off four from a year ago.
In the Comedy genre, The Half Of It has brought CBS’ comedy orders to seven so far. The Half Of It, Written for CBS Television Studios and executive produced by The Late Late Show With James Cordon head writer Mike Gibbons, is a multi camera comedy about a newly divorced father who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married.
