It looks like CBS’ Emmy-winning comedy series Mom will be returning for a fifth season.
Deadline reports that the network is nearing an early renewal for the multi-camera comedy series. This does not come as much of a surprise considering Mom‘s consistently strong ratings and its Emmy magnet in Allison Janney.
Mom, created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker, centers on single mom Christy as she juggles her children and her recovering-alcoholic mother. It stars Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Mimi Kennedy, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Matt Jones and Sadie Calvano.
CBS has a very lucrative relationship with Lorre, managing to squeeze hit after hit from the producer. Along with Mom Lorre has brought Mike & Molly, Two and a Half Men, and most importantly The Big Bang Theory. CBS just recently confirmed that it has ordered Lorre’s The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon, which will focus on Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper as a child.
Mom is currently finishing up its fourth season and airs on CBS on Thursdays at 9 p.m.
