CBS Announces Spinoff Series ‘Sheriff Country’ From ‘Fire Country’ Universe

According to Comicbook.com, the Fire Country Universe is set to expand by introducing a new spinoff series, which was announced by CBS on Thursday. Following the success of the second season of the network’s popular firefighter drama, Fire Country, CBS has given the green light to Sheriff Country, a new show centered around the character Mickey Fox.

Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Deadpool Two, Homeland), who portrays Mickey Fox, the sheriff of Edgewater and stepsister of Cal Fire chief Sharon Leone in Fire Country, will reprise her role as the lead in this anticipated spinoff. Baccarin’s character was introduced in the latest season of Fire Country in what was intended as a backdoor pilot for the new series.

Comicbook.com says the official series order for Sheriff Country signifies CBS’s commitment to expanding the Fire Country franchise. Fans can expect the show to premiere during the 2025-26 television season, aligning with the conclusion of Blue Bloods which stars Tom Selleck (Blue Bloods, friends, Three Men And A Baby), Will Estes (Not Since You, American Dreams, Shadow Of Fear) and Donnie Wahlberg (Saw, Saw Two, The Sixth Sense). Blue Bloods currently airs alongside Fire Country on Friday nights.

Via Comicbook.com, CBS has long expressed interest in building upon the success of Fire Country, aiming to create a franchise akin to the popular NCIS series with multiple shows running concurrently. George Cheeks, CBS chief, previously highlighted the potential for several distinct shows within the Fire Country universe.

While specific details about Sheriff Country are still forthcoming, viewers can anticipate more thrilling drama and engaging characters from the expanding Fire Country Universe when the series debuts next year.
