Catherine O’Hara’s Cause Of Death Has Been Revealed

According to Deadline, Catherine O’hara (Home Alone, The Last Of Us) died on January 30, 2026. She was only 71 years old. At the time the cause of death was not revealed, only mentioned that she passed after brief illness. Today it was noted by Deadline that the cause of death, reported by the Los Angeles Country Health Department on her death certificate was a pulmonary embolism with underlying case of rectal cancer.

Deadline mentinoed that O’hara had an extraordinary career, which incudes films, TV and an Emmy Award for her role in the 1015-20 comedy, Schitt’s Creek. O’Hara starred in notable films like, Beetlejuice Beatlejuice, Home Alone Franchise, and A Mighty Wind. Recently, O’hara just filmed two episodes of The Las Of Us which will air on HBO Max and she also reprised her role as Delia Deetz in BeetleJuice. O’hara earned recent Emmy nominations for her performances for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.

According to Deadline , at the recent DGA awards Seth Rogan (Teenage Mutent Ninja Turtles 2, The Muppet Show) and Even Goldberg (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Sausage Party: Foodtopiahonored O’Hara during their speech after they received awards for their work on The Studio. “Honestly, there’s no one we wish we could thank in person at the moment more than we would love to tank Catherine O’Hara.” Rogan continued to say, “and the best part of her is that she showed that you can be an utter genius adn also the nicest person in the entire world. It was an honor to get to direct her everyday and we worked very hard to make the show good enough to warrant her time and her presence. So, we would mostly like to thank Catherine O’Hara for being such a wonderful person and for blessing us with. your presence.” Catherine O’hara will be forever missed by all who worked with her.
