

According to Deadline, Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone, The Last Of Us) died on January 30, 2026. She was only 71 years old. At the time, the cause of death was not revealed, only mentioning that she passed after a brief illness.Today it was noted that the Los Angeles County Health Department listed her cause of death as a pulmonary embolism with an underlying case of rectal cancer.
Deadline mentions that O’Hara had an extraordinary career, including films, TV and, eventually, her Emmy Award-winning role in the 2015-20 comedy, Schitt’s Creek. O’Hara starred in notable films like, Beetlejuice, the first two Home Alone films, and A Mighty Wind. Recently, O’Hara starred in the second season of HBO’s The Last Of Us and she also reprised her role as Delia Deetz in the horror comdey sequel Beetlejuice, BeetleJuice. O’Hara earned two recent Emmy nominations for her role in The Last of Us, and last year’s performances in Apple TV’s The Studio.
According to Deadline , at the recent DGA Awards, Seth Rogan (Teenage Mutent Ninja Turtles 2, The Muppet Show) and Even Goldberg (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Sausage Party: Foodtopia) honored O’Hara during their speech after they received awards for their work on The Studio.

So, we would mostly like to thank Catherine O’Hara for being such a wonderful person and for blessing us with. your presence.” Catherine O’hara will be forever missed by all who worked with her.
