‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ Goes On Hiatus With Discussing The Future Of The Netflix Original

According to Comicbook, discussion is going on regarding the future of the acclaimed fantasy animated series Castlevania: Nocturne, which takes place several years after the original. The series focuses on Richter Belmont, voiced by Edward Bluemel (A Discovery of Witches), and friends combating vampiric forces trying to purge the world into eternal darkness. The series has been praised for the stunning animation and gripping narrative that have left viewers on the edge of their seats.

The series ended with the group having escaped from the vampire messiah, Erzsebet Báthory, voiced by Franka Potente (Titans), and the return of Alucard, voiced by James Callis (Rick and Morty).

While the first season ended on a cliffhanger, the production of season two is mostly completed and is scheduled to return to Netflix around January 2025. As shared by the series creator, Samuel Deats (Castlevania) via Comicbook and  X, “For those of you wondering, now that Castlevania: Nocturne S2 is mostly wrapped, we’re going on hiatus until release and we find out if we’re getting renewed. It goes without saying, but if you want to see more shows of Castlevania quality, please support S2 when it releases!” Along with Deats, the cast and staff from the first season are confirmed to reprise their roles, like Kevin Kolde (Adventure Time) and Clive Bradley (Trapped), the series showrunners.

According to Comicbook, it is hard for Netflix to predict whether the original series will be successful enough to stay on for multiple seasons. Regardless, the series has reignited interest and has introduced a new generation of fans to the iconic franchise. While fans await further news surrounding the second season and the future of the renowned animated fantasy series, the primary season of Castlevania: Nocturne is available to stream on Netflix, as well as the previous Castlevania series.
