According to TVLine, few actors have been chosen in several pilots for next season. Braddock & Jackson, Songbyrd, The McCarthys and an unnamed FOX comedy all have added new names to their casts.
FX/Lionsgate has cast Rory O’Malley (The Book Of Mormon, Nurse Jackie) to play an “irreverent office manager” in Braddock & Jackson, a 10-episode comedy show.
Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence are in charge of the leading roles, playing two very different Chicago lawyers who meet in court during “the worst day of their lives” and decide to start a partnership.
Jack Cutmore-Scott who, like Rory O’Malley, has been hitting the Broadway Circuit, has been cast in a FOX’s still unnamed comedy pilot, produced by Matt Hubbard, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.
Cutmore-Scott will be Charlie Deckard, a “Kennedy-esque young man who joins the women at Cabot College” and disturbs one of the students there, Thena (played by Bonnie Dennison).
E!’s Songbyrd just added Wes Brown (Deception) to their regular cast: he’ll be Justin, the leading lady’s sexy love interest.
Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) will be playing the leading role, Lauren Byrd, a singer/songwriter. The character’s said to be “vaguely inspired in Diane Warren.”
Finally, CBS has cast Jimmy Dunn (Stuck On You) in the new comedy The McCarthys, which was also tested as a single-camera pilot last season and is now being revamped as multi-camera.
The show is about a “big, sports-crazed Irish Catholic clan” from Boston and the gay son who creates controversy amidst the family. Dunn, who’s reprising the original role he was given when the show was single-camera, will play one of the other sons.
