Cartoon Network’s ‘Fionna and Cake’ Greenlit for a Second Season on MAX

Fionna and Cake are coming back for round two. While the original gender-swapped episodes of the Adventure Time series that sparked Fionna and Cake premiered over a decade ago, fans could not get enough of the new featured series written about them. Max has officially announced that the Cartoon Network series will return for a second season.

Max took to social media today and revealed that the series has been greenlit and will be returning for a second season. Fans are super excited and are now eagerly awaiting any new content in regards to the addition to the series.

The titular characters of the series Fionna and Cake were first introduced in the original Adventure Time series as fanfiction that the character Ice King had written. The characters Finn and Jake became gender-swapped heroines named, shockingly, Fionna and Cake. The episodes were met with high praise and a cult following as fans could not get enough. In response, about 10 years later, Cartoon Network finally produced a spin-off series that was released this past summer. The creation was a success as it was not only met with rave reviews from both fans and critics, but people begging Cartoon Network for more.

The new series has Fionna and Cake tackling villains and storylines from all across the multiverse. It centers around Fionna and her struggles throughout normal day-to-day life, all up until a villain comes out of the multiverse and wants to erase her and Cake from existence. With the help of the scientist Simon (who appears in the original series as the man who became Ice King), Fionna and Cake battle their way through their world, and a bunch of other dimensions, to keep their status of existing in their universe.

While the series is produced by Cartoon Network, viewers can watch it on Max. You can watch the first season of Fionna and Cake on Max now!
