According to Deadline, Canadian Actor Patrick Kwok-Choon has signed on with Buchwald, the latest actor to do so with the agency this year. Kwok-Choon has been known for his roles in Star Trek: Discovery, Open Heart, and his other minor roles in many shows such as Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go and PAW Patrol: The Movie.
The deal means Kwok-Choon will be represented by the agency in future projects, along with his other representatives at Luber Roklin Entertainment and The Characters. He has shown up in many movies and TV shows that most mainstream audiences have seen but not even realized he was a part of. His most notable roles are associated with the Star Trek franchise.
He has appeared in 42 episodes of the CBS-owned show Star Trek: Discovery. It was created by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Star Trek: Voyager) and Alex Kurtzman (Sleepy Hollow, The Mummy). Kwok-Schoon Co-Stars with Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, The Good Wife), Doug Jones (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), Anthony Rapp (A Beautiful Mind, Dazed and Confused), Emily Coutts (Dear Jesus, Crimson Peak), and Mary Wiseman (Marriage Story, Baskets) to name a few. According to Deadline, Kwok-Choon plays General Rhys in this prequel that takes place a decade before Star Trek: The Original Series. That show has been renewed for a fifth season on Paramount Plus.
Kwok-Choon also has a prominent role in the CBS/Paramount+ show SkyMed in which he portrays the character Dr. Trevor Sung, an ER physician at a local hospital. That show was created by Julie Puckrin (Killjoys, Motive) and Kwok-Choon stars with Natasha Calis (The Firm, The Harvest), Morgan Holmstrom (Shadow of the Rougarou, I Still See You), Praneet Akilla (Motherland: Fort Salem, Nancy Drew), Aason Nadjiwon (Arrow, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), Mercedes Morris (Far Cry 6, Slasher), Thomas Elms (Project Blue Book, Timeless), Kheon Clarke (The Flash, Superman & Lois), Emilia McCarthy (Babel, Hemlock Grove), Aaron Ashmore (Veronica Mars, Killjoys), Rebecca Kwan (Taken, Our Ladies in Brooklyn), and Braeden Clarke (Impulse, Run Woman Run).
According to Deadline, he also appeared on other shows such as Teen Nick series Open Heart and Syfy’s Wynonna Earp, the CW’s Backpackers, and CBC’s Shoot The Messenger. In more recent times, he voiced in other kids shows such as Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go and PAW Patrol: The Movie.
This new opportunity would give the Canadian actor more opportunities to jump onto the big screen. He’s been acting for a supporting role in the A24 film Beau Is Afraid, which is directed by Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) and stars Joaquin Phoenix (Her, Joker). This A24 surrealist film tells the story of a paranoid man (Phoenix) who embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother. That film will be released in the U.S. on April 21st.
