According to PEOPLE, Cam Newton, the quarterback for the Carolina Panther’s will serve as a mentor for kids in Nickelodeon’s docu-series titled All In With Cam Newton.
In the show, Newton will work with children and teens with all types of career interests. From an aspiring professional basketball player to fashion designing, fencing, and handling hungry snakes. Whatever that goal is, Newton will be there to help bring these kids one step closer towards their dreams.
All In With Cam Newton shows the famous quarterback pairing kids aged 7-15 with unique mentors. The concept of the show is very significant and personal for Newton in particular who was eager to take part in the docu-series. He explains “I would not be the person I am today without my mentors and all the people who took the time to teach me.” The 27-year-old football player added “The truth is we’ve all learned something from somebody.”
And in the show, viewers may definitely learn something new whether it’s discussing the health policy with first lady, Michelle Obama or learning about design tips from Tim Gunn. As each kid soaks in knowledge from their assigned mentors, Newton stands close by while cheering them and cracking a couple jokes. “It’s a boatload of fun and I got to do so many things I wouldn’t even imagine doing. I also found out I had more fears than I thought,” Newton says referring to the multiple snakes he had to encounter in the docu-series. But although he was initially scared of snakes, he admits that seeing an 8-year-old girl holding a long snake helped him a little with not being so fearful of the serpents. “To have a kid saying, ‘Look I’m just this big and I can hold this snake and it’s not hurting me,’ we could encourage each other. If I can do it anybody can do it and that’s pretty much what the whole show is about,” Newton says.
The quarterback hopes that the docu-series will ultimately inspire other kids as well as adults to pursue whatever it is they love. In addition to helping kids learn new skills, the new dad also indicated that he learned from the parents on the kids on the show. “Seeing the way these parents pushed their kids to become whatever they wanted to be taught me something I will definitely apply to my own parenting,” he says.
