Bryan Fuller & Michael Green Exit ‘American Gods’

Starz series American Gods has reportedly lost two of its gods in Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. According to reports from Deadline, the executive producers/creators announced their exit to the crew today.

Specific details have not been released surrounding Fuller and Green’s departure, but rumors have circulated that FreemantleMedia North America imposed significant budget cuts to season 2. The Neil Gaiman novel, on which the show is based, features some mythological scenarios requiring more than imagination for the TV show. The author may join the show in some production capacity but his time is currently allotted to the Amazon series, Good Omens.

When the show debuted on Starz in earlier this year, it promptly received word for a continuation. Series regulars Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle brought the characters of Mr. Wednesday and Shadow Moon, respectively, to life much to the appreciation of viewers. The second season of American Gods had been slated for a mid-2018 debut with more than half of the scripts supposedly completed.

A search is underway for the showrunner replacement. In the meantime, Fuller is focusing on a reboot of Amazing Stories for Apple while Green is penning a part two of Murder on the Orient Express.
