Bridgerton’s Third Season Breaks Record, Scores Biggest Series Weekend Debut With 45.1 Million Views

Big news from Netflix this week: the first part of the third season of Bridgerton has been viewed by 45.1 million people during its opening weekend. The regency-era series has broken the record of becoming the biggest debut weekend for series in the entire history of the streamer, Variety exclusively reports.

Bridgerton‘s second season was released in 2022 in its entirety. Netflix at the time, according to Variety, was when they released its streaming platform’s viewing hours in terms of how many hours users watched each show. The second season of Bridgerton totaled 193 million minutes watched across all eight episodes in just three days. When that total number is divided by the season’s 8.5-hour runtime, that results in 22.7 million views. That is less than half of the people who watched the third season’s debut.

Season three was divided into two parts, one released on May 16, with the other part available to stream on June 13. According to Variety, this first part obtained 165.2 million viewing hours in the first four days after its release.

The third season, starring Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Big Mood, Barbie) as Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton (The Lodge, Lake Placid: Legacy, The Cut) as Colin Bridgerton, will definitely remain in the Netflix Top 10 Listing for longer period of time since its second part will be released in less than three weeks. According to Variety, this season will most likely end up ranking among Netflix’s most popular English language series ever, which Netflix begins ranking after each title has been on the streaming platform for 91 days. The second season of Bridgerton is now number nine on the list with a total of 93.8 million minutes watched. The first season is in the fourth position, with 113.3 million views.

After Bridgerton, the other most-watched titles for this week were the following TV series: Ashley Madison: Sex, Lives & Scandal debuted on the second spot of the list, with a total 9.5 million views. Afterwards, it’s followed by the thriller series Baby Reindeer, with a total of 7.4 million views, after being on the streamer for six weeks. The Netflix’s Top 10 lists for the May 13-19 week can be seen in its entirety on Variety.

The first part of the third season of Bridgerton, and its complete first two seasons, are available for streaming on Netflix.
