‘Bridgerton’ Spinoff Adds Connie Jenkins-Greig as a Recurring Character

Netflix’s Bridgerton Queen Charlotte prequel series  has added Jenkins-Greig to play a recurring character, as reported by Deadline. Jenkins-Greig will play Young Violet Ledger, Vivian and Lord Ledger’s inquisitive and kind daughter. The prequel, ordered to series in 2021, is currently set to be limited series, as previously announced by The Hollywood Reporter

Jenkins-Greig joins Katie Brayben (The Alienist) and Kier Charles (Back to Life), who will play Vivan and Lord Ledger, respectively. Jenkins-Greig’s credits include ITV’s historical drama series, Mr. Selfridge, and the 2017 action thriller, The Take Down. Jenkins-Greig is also slated to appear in the upcoming romance film, Love Without Walls, by writer and director Jane Gull (My Feral Heart). While it seems that Jenkins-Greig’s role is a younger version of Regency-era matriarch, Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell (Home Fires), Netflix and Shondaland have yet to confirm if the two characters are connected officially.

The series will explore the rise of Queen Charlotte, a scene-stealing character in the original Bridgerton series, played by Golda Rosheuvel (Lady Macbeth). The prequel will feature a young Queen Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Amarteifio’s previous projects include the Netflix series Sex Education, Sky Max’s The Midwich Cuckoos, and the British-French crime drama, The Tunnel.

Other previously announced cast members include Sam Clemmett (Cherry), Richard Cunningham (The Witcher), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew), Rob Maloney (EastEnders), Corey Mylchreest (Mars), Cyril Nri (Midsomer Murders), Bridgerton’s Hugh Sachs, and newcomer Arsema Thomas. Bridgerton cast members Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell will reprise their roles as Lady Agatha Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton, respectively.

Four-time Emmy Award nominee, Shonda Rhimes, will serve as the production’s executive producer and writer. Netflix has yet to set a release date for the prequel series.
