As a Christmas present to Lady Whistledown fans, Netflix has released photos from the upcoming season of Bridgerton, Deadline reports. The series is returning in two parts in May and June 2024.
The images include the main couple of this new season, Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, respectively played by Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Barbie), and Luke Newton (The Lodge, Lake Placid: Legacy). The couple has already gotten a ship name, #Polin; furthermore, fans caught a glimpse of the new Francesca Bridgerton in these new pictures, now played by Hannah Dodd (Enola Holmes 2, Eternals).
These new photos follow last June’s release of Colin and Penelope’s season 3 first-look images. Every cast member will be returning to the show, including a special reappearance by the couple of Anthony and Kate, played by Jonathan Bailey (Fellow Travelers, Crashing) and Simon Ashley (Sex Education, The Little Mermaid), affectionately named by fans #Kanthony.
The only couple who won’t be returning is the one including Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor (Fair Play, Bank of Dave), and Simon, played by Rege’-Jean Page (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Gray Man), who left at the beginning of season 2.
According to Deadline, here’s this upcoming season’s synopsis:
Penelope has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the town makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
Part 1 (episodes 301-304) of Bridgerton‘s new season will premiere on May 16, followed by part 2 (305-308) on June 13.
