Brennan Lee Mulligan Cameos In Peacock’s ‘Ted’

The Ted television series was the latest to hop on the Dungeon’s and Dragon’s episode trend. The iconic role-playing game has been portrayed several times in popular media, notably in a controversial episode of the comedy series Community, as a central thematic, plot, and character device in Stranger Things, and, lastly, as a movie.

Ted brought in perhaps the most famous real-life dungeon master in order to play the role, Brennan Lee Mulligan (Upton Abbey, Dimension 20). Mulligan currently serves as dungeon master on the web series Critical Role. Additionally, he has gone viral for his rant on laws in which he states, “I don’t know what kids are up to, but I do know one thing. Laws are threats made by the dominant socio-economic ethnic in a given nation. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted, and police are basically an occupying army. You know what I mean. You guys want to make some bacon.”

In another Dungeon Master speech, he said, “Do you think people make choices…No. People think they make choices. They think they are going to steer right or steer left, but they didn’t build the roads. The big choices already got made for them.”

Although they were taken slightly out of context as they were in reference to a game of D&D, these speeches have been clipped on social media  and have contributed to his popularity, perhaps helping land him a role in the hit Peacock series.  His role on Ted was much more light-hearted, giving brief descriptions of the character sheets for Ted and co, before breaking into a “Dildo” joke about Bilbo Baggins.

In an attempt to describe a thief character, Mulligan responds,  “Yeah, like in The Hobbit.” Ted retorts with “Like Dildo Baggins.” After some brief back and forth, Mulligan corrects Ted, telling him the name is Bilbo, but Ted immediately misinterprets, thinking the name is “Dildo Bilbo.” Watch the full clip below.
