Hulu is assisting Branson Reese (Strip Law, Mission To Zyxx) and Nicole Silverberg (Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, Las Culturistas) with the new animated series, The Kids from S.I.P.P.Y. Deadline has learned that the show is a sister show to Archivo Motors and Strip Law.
Deadline writes that the studio 20th Television Animation is producing the show, and it is about three high school freshman nerds that do not fit in. The three kids are enlisted into a secret spy school. In addition to Reese and Silverberg, Steven Fisher (Short Circuit, Before the Flood) and Trevor Engelson (The After Party, All About Steve) will produce in lieu for Underground, and Mosaic’s Patrick Newman along with Tovah Silbermann.
According to Deadline, the announcement of The Kids from S.I.P.P.Y comes as Hulu is developing new projects on the animation side. Its newest project is Deano, a half-hour comedy. It’s also picked up Swap Meet, a series starring Ralph Barbosa who will executive produce with writer Isaac Gonzalez (NCIS, Westworld).
Deadline mentions that The Kids from S.I.P.P.Y’s Reese started writing, acting, and drawing in Los Angeles where he produced and acted in the animated series Swan Boy based on his comic of the same name. He also voice acted in PBS’s City Island as Frank Lloyd Light, and plays several characters on Netflix’s upcoming comedy Strip Law. He’s written on We Bare Bears, and Oh My God Yes, and created the podcast Rude Tales of Magic and the comic Hell Was Full.
According to Deadline, Silverberg is an Arizona-born, Emmy-nominated and WGA-award winning writer, actor, and comedian. She recently worked with The Lonely Island on an NBC comedy, and created Bad Crimes at Netflix with Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead Do America, King of the Hill) and Greg Daniels (Parks and Recreational, Space Force) as producers. She was a writer at Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, winning a GLAAD Award, and served as an editor at Reductress, a woman’s satirical magazine.
