‘Born This Way’ a New Docu-Series Which Follows Seven Young Adults With Down Syndrome

The A&E Network will soon premiere its new original docu-series “Born This Way.” A&E reports that the show will give viewers a close look into the lives of seven young adults with Down syndrome in Southern California. Viewers will get to see various aspects of their lives including their romantic relationships, friendships, and their occupations. There will also be an inside look at each of them following their various dreams.

A&E states that the show gives the parents of the “Born This Way” cast the opportunity to discuss the positive impact that their son or daughter adds to their family as well as some of the struggles they encounter in guiding their loved ones towards being as independent as possible. Elaine Frontain Bryant, the EVP & Head of Programming A&E Network said “We are proud to be airing this important and extraordinary series and hope it will inspire meaningful conversations about people with differences.” In addition Bryant stated that “’Born This Way’ is a show with honesty, humor and heart that celebrates and embraces diversity.”

The “Born This Way” cast includes:

Megan- a promising entrepreneur who has a line of clothing called “Megology.” Megan is also going after her goal of becoming a film producer. She is active in advocating for equal opportunities for all adults with disabilities.

Sean – a passionate sportsman and an outstanding golfer. Sean is also a self-proclaimed ladies’ man who won’t hesitate to approach a woman who catches his attention.

Cristina – is a caring young adult who works in a middle school. During her free time Cristina loves chatting with her boyfriend Angel. They have been together for four years and Cristina plans to marry him one day.

John – For a long time, John has known that he wanted to work in the entertainment business. In fact, he is a born and dedicated entertainer who is pursuing a career as a rapper.

Rachel – Works in the mailroom for an insurance company and is set to be the maid of honor for her brother’s wedding. Rachel looks forward to eventually getting married but before doing so she wants to find the right man.

Steven – Currently works two jobs, as a dishwasher at Angel Stadium and he also works in customer service at a grocery store. Steven is a film enthusiast and he knows all the titles and years of each Oscar winning film.

Elena – This young woman wholeheartedly embraces life and what it has to offer. Elena loves to dance, cook, and write poetry. She takes great pride in her life and her independence.

Jonathan Murray, the Executive Producer of “Born This Way” said that there is a “freshness and honesty in the way these young adults lead their lives; something we could all learn from them. We are enormously thankful to them and their families for participating in this project.”

Watch the six-episode, hour-long series premiere on Tuesday, December 8 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
