On Thursday, it was announced that legendary television producer, Leonard Goldberg passed away at the age of 85 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. According to USA Today, his passing comes after injuries he had apparently sustained during a fall.
Leonard Goldberg, who has been associated and worked within the film and television industry for over 45 years. Goldberg achieved a lot over the years and his long running history within the television and film industry credit is extensive. Goldberg has been credited with a number of titles and collaborations including being Program Chief for ABC, served as President of 20thCentury Fox, Supervisor for Special Projects at NBC, was Vice President of Production at Screen Gems with associations with Paramount and Columbia Pictures and he most recently served on the Board of Directors on the CBS Corporation.
Goldberg’s work also involved collaborating with shows as Producer and Executive Producing a number of highly successful and rememberable television shows and films such as Charlie’s Angels, Wargames, and Unknown as well as highly successful television shows like The Rookies, T.J. Hooker, the original Charlie’s Angels and S.W.A.T television series as well as the current and Blue Bloods. Goldberg was currently serving as Executive Producer for the CBS show, Blue Bloods with series lead Tom Selleck (Magnum PI). Blue Bloods, which is currently in its 10th season had just recently celebrated huge milestone that marked the shows 200thepisode, which aired back in September. According to Deadline, Blue Bloods, honored the late producer in their last week’s episode with a title card that paid tribute to the late producer saying in part “In Loving Memory to Our Founder and Mentor Leonard Goldberg”
Dozens of people who were close to the late producer took to social media platforms to offer kind words. CBS tweeted to honor his passing which can be seen below as well as actor Hank Chen some of which called him a true legend.
