Blake Shelton hosts “Healing in the Heartland” Relief Benefit Concert

The Voice’s Blake Shelton announced last week that he would be hosting a benefit concert for relief efforts after a tornado devastated Moore, Oklahoma on May 20, killing 24 people and causing significant damage. “Healing in the Heartland” will take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on May 29 to raise funds and increase public awareness.

Shelton, who is from Ada, Oklahoma, says that this benefit concert is his “way to help […] as an entertainer.” The Oklahoma City location is particularly important to him, as it is near Moore, “ground zero” of the tornado’s destruction.

Artists slated to perform include Shelton himself and his wife Miranda Lambert, as well as fellow Oklahoma natives Reba McEntire and Vince Gill. It was recently announced that Rascal Flatts, Luke Bryan, Usher, Darius Rucker and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder will join them. Proceeds will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.

Tickets sold out quickly after being made available on Ticketmaster early Saturday, but the event will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 9 P.M. on Wednesday.
