Rejoice DC fans– a new program is being added to the WarnerMedia/DC service subscription in 2020!
New York Comic Con 2019 had a lot in store, especially the surprising announcement regarding its new upcoming TV Show, a mixed media anthology series that will feature some of the more obscure characters in the DC comic realm. Lead by Blue Ribbon Content, a contributor and production unit of Warners Bros, the team promises animation, live-action, and other creative media.
The WarnerMedia/DC streaming service provides an online collection of past comics and continually expands in its diversity and content. BizarroTV, for instance, is meant to be one of many significant projects in the library, filling in the niche of “what if?” The show will take characters like Slam Bradley, Creeper, Space Cabbie, and other unexpected characters into the world of Htrae, where a totally different variation of Superman named Bizarro lives. He even has his wife, Bizarro Lois Lane, and son, Bizarro Junior. DC aims to highlight some of stranger characters in their comics over the years and explore an untapped side of their iconic universe.
As it is meant to launch in 2020, we can expect more news and sneak peaks in the coming months. Framed in the Bizarro world, fans can expect the premise and intricate setup of a “what if” setting to be an interesting one; the show will be inventing up its own plots, stories, and inevitable connections to other known DC comics. The distinctive approach of mixed media, which involves anything from puppets to CGI, will most definitely give each episode its unique feel in an already cinematic universe.
DC continues to adapt and take risks, evidently diversifying with its numerous TV projects in the works. Other upcoming shows include a Harley Quinn animated series premiering November 28th, supplementing the original cast of DC shows and online streaming function. It’s remarkable to touch on elements like mixed media and the hidden potential potential of Bizarro in the modern day, but DC strives to be competitive, and fans will raise the bar.
