According to a recent report from Deadline, Billie Boullet (A Small Light, The Worst Witch) is set to co-star alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman, Aquaman, Ambulance) in Netflix’s highly anticipated drama series Man on Fire. This series is an adaptation of A.J. Quinnell’s (The Perfect Kill, The Blue Ring, Snap Shot) riveting book series of the same name and will span eight episodes.
Man on Fire delves into the gripping story of John Creasy, once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary; Creasy is now grappling with severe PTSD. His quest for redemption is fraught with challenges as he confronts his inner demons and attempts to start anew. However, his path takes a dramatic turn, thrusting him back into a world of intense conflict.
As Deadline mentions, Boullet will play Poe Rayburn, a character inspired by the young protagonist in Quinnell’s novels. Displeased with her family’s decision to move to Brazil, Poe initially spends her time among her affluent international peers. However, a tragic incident profoundly alters her outlook on life and family. As the sole witness to this harrowing event, Poe discovers that John Creasy is her only reliable ally.
According to Deadline, the series draws from the first two books of Quinnell’s five-part series, Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill. The narrative has been previously adapted into film, notably the 2004 version starring Denzel Washington (The Equalizer, Training Day, Flight). Steven Caple Jr. (Transformers: Rise Of The Beast, Creed II, The Land) will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer. Also stated by Deadline, Kyle Killen (Awake, Halo, Mind Games) will serve as the writer, executive producer and showrunner.
Boullet, who gained attention for her debut in CBBC’s The Worst Witch and earned a Critics Choice nomination for her portrayal of Anne Frank in A Small Light, continues to make strides in her career. According to Deadline, she will also appear in the upcoming sci-fi survival thriller World-Breaker alongside Luke Evans (Beauty And The Beast, Fast And Furious Six, Dracula: Untold) and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Hellboy).
Man on Fire promises to be a compelling addition to Netflix’s lineup, bringing together a talented cast and creative team to bring Quinnell’s thrilling saga to life.
