‘Beyond Black Beauty’ From Prime Video Releases Trailer Ahead Of October Release

Prime Video has released the official trailer for Beyond Black Beauty, inspired by the classic novel titled Black Beauty. The series will be fully available to stream on October 15.

A Prime Video press release described the series: “Beyond Black Beauty follows young equestrian Jolie Dumont, whose Olympic dreams are dashed when her mother moves them from Belgium to her family’s urban ranch in Baltimore. An angry Jolie wants to escape until she bonds with a spirited horse named Black Beauty. Jolie will learn to embrace her heritage while continuing toward her Olympic-hopeful future and discover the value of family and home.” The show is a departure from the original novel, giving a fresh and unique twist.

The series is an adaptation of the classic novel by Anna Seawell. The novel follows a well-bred horse named Black Beauty, and through his perspective, we see the horse go to different owners. We get to view his treatment first with kind and loving owners and, eventually, those who would mistreat him. The story became revolutionary in understanding animal mistreatment and rights. The novel has seen multiple film adaptations, with its most recent release on Disney+ in 2020.

The series will star Kaya Coleman (Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders) as the leading lady, Jolie Dumont. Although the details of the secondary characters are still being kept under wraps, the series will also star Gina James (Transplant), Sagine Sémajuste (Grand Army), Lisa Berry (Shadowhunters), and Gilles Marini (Daredevil).

The series is being produced by a powerful team of Amazon MGM Studios, Sinking Ship Entertainment, Leif Films, and Saga Films. Sinking Ship Entertainment is best known for its original series, such as Jane and Ghostwriter from Apple TV+. Amazon MGM Studios is known for its critically acclaimed series, like The Boys and Fallout, among many others.

Fans of Prime Video originals and the novel will rejoice at this modern reimagining, which is set to be released on October 15.
