An executive producer and director for the hit thriller Apple TV+ series, Severance, has spoken out. TVLine reports actor and director Ben Stiller (Meet The Parents) responded to rumors that the second season was allegedly delayed due to allegations of on-set strife between the showrunners. In a tweet, Stiller professed that the second season is on schedule.
In the now-deleted tweet, Stiller stated, “No one’s going to the break room,” via TVLine. “We’re on the same really slow schedule we’ve always been on. Same target air date we’ve always had. Love our fans and each other and we all are just working to make the show as good as possible.”
The first reports of alleged on-set drama came from Puck News, which relayed production was allegedly facing roadblocks because of an alleged falling out between series creator Dan Erickson (Treasure Trouble), and fellow co-showrunner Mark Friedman (Wayward Pines). According to Puck News, the two were allegedly on bad terms during the production of season one, and this alleged beef created an alleged “toxic” environment.
TVLine reports another source close to the show also pushed back on the rumors, reassuring the series “is on schedule.” In addition to the alleged feud, reports also surfaced that an alleged ballooning budget was harpooning progress. And the arrival of House of Cards creator and Andor writer, Beau Willimon, to the writer’s room, fueled more chatter. The source contradicted these reports stating Willimon had joined Erickson and Friedman to begin working on a potential third-season narrative, as they could possibly be eyeing more of Severance.
Severance is a workplace drama series starring Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) in which employees of the mysterious tech company, Lumen Industries, undergo the controversial brain procedure that severs one’s work consciousness from their home consciousness. When Scott’s Mark is reunited with a former co-worker who had the procedure reversed, he and his colleagues embark on a mysterious journey to uncover the truth behind Lumen. The series co-stars Britt Lower (Man Seeking Woman), John Turturro (The Plot Against America), Zach Cherry (You), Tramell Tillman (Dietland), and Patricia Arquette (Medium).
Season one of Severance is available to watch exclusively on Apple TV+.
