Before Dragons And Direwolves: ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ Reveals The Great Houses Pasts

The upcoming spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will return viewers to the world of Westeros years before the events of Games of Thrones and House of the Dragons. According to Comicbook, the plot will be different from the previous serious by being more character driven and with less fantasy aspect such as the dragons, direwolves and white walkers. The journey of Ser Duncan the Tall, played by Peter Claffey (Vikings: Valhalla, Wreck) and Egg, played by Dexter Sol Ansell (The Moor, Robin and the Hoods) will certainly meet members of great houses in the franchise.

Comicbook reports that several members of House Targaryen will play crucial roles throughout the duo’s travels, including the current ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, King Daeron II, played by Henry Ashton (OutlanderCreation Stories), who will have a conflict with Egg. On the other hand, while House Stark was central to Game of Thrones plot, they are largely absent from the early Dunk and Egg stories, due to one of the ancestors, Lord Beron Stark being preoccupied with defending Winterfell and The North from a raid.
House Lannister and Baratheon flaunt their wealth by staying in the background of the series. Stated by Comicbook, it was revealed that Duncan’s mentor once served under Damon Lannister. Furthermore, it was revealed that Lyonel Baratheon, better known as the laughing knight, will become an important aid to the duo in their future endeavors. Viewers will be excited to see how the house’s ancestors are introduced in the upcoming spin-off.

While viewers may see fewer of their favorite houses in the upcoming series, this will certainly provide more insight into how the franchise connects with other installments. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on January 18, and will consist of six episodes.
