‘Beef’s’ Creator Lee Sung Jin Updates On Season Two Possibility

On January 15, Netflix’s limited series ‘Beef‘ awarded a total of eight Emmy wins, giving the show a great push towards a second season. Yet no official decision has been decided yet. According to the Deadline, Lee Sung, writer-producer-director commented during the Emmy’s backstage “I feel like there are so many paths”. “It could stay limited – it was a very close – ended story for sure. But if Netflix wanted to continue, it could also be many things. It’s up to the great algorithm. We’re all waiting to hear”.

Beef‘s creator Lee Sung Jin is open to the idea of a second season.

The limited series is a dark-comedy about two strangers Danny and Amy who get involved in a road rage incident resulting in their lives being intertwined with one another in the worst way and and leading them into a life of chaos and revenge that jeopardizes everyone’s life around them.

In November according to Deadline, Lee Sung  signed a multi-year film and Tv deal with the streaming network, Netflix.

As Deadline notes, Beef’s creator received the same question during the Golden Globes about season 2 for the limited series, stating “We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series”.

Lee Sung follows up with “There was always going to be new characters. Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready”.

Stars of the limited series Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Nope, Space Jam: The New Legacy) and Ali Wong (Paper Girls, Birds of Prey, Father Figures) have been collecting numerous acting awards at the Emmy’s, Golden Globes, and Critics Choice Awards. Maria Bello (Coyote Ugly, Lights Out, The Cooler) who was nominated for the limited series in the category best supporting actress at the Emmy’s, won a Golden Globe for that category.
