The anticipated Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) Netflix series Beauty in Black has finally unveiled its leading cast! According to TVLine, some of the new cast members have appeared in Perry’s previous projects, including Charles Malik Whitfield (If Loving You Is Wrong) and Julian Horton (Bruh).
Beauty in Black will feature 16 episodes for its first season, each an hour long. As previously reported, the series “centers on two women who lead distinct lives and become involved in each other’s. Kimmie is trying to support herself after her mother kicked her out, while Mallory owns a prosperous company.”
Actress Taylor Polidore Williams (Snowfall) will portray Kimmie in this drama series. Williams is set to co-star alongside Crystle Stewart (For Better or Worse) as she portrays Mallory.
TVLine notes that 16 stars are slated to join Beauty in Black, including Terrell Carter (Empire), who will portray Varney, Amber Reign Smith (Wu-Tang: An American Saga), who will portray Rain, Bryan Tanaka (Entourage), who will play Officer Alex, Richard Lawson (All My Children), who will play Norman, Ricco Ross (P-Valley) who will play Horace and Steven G. Norfleet (Perry’s Ruthless), who will play Charles.
Others include Debbi Morgan (All My Children) who will play Olivia, Tamera Kissen (Real Husbands of Hollywood) who will play Body, Horton, who will play Roy, Shannon Wallace (Blue Bloods) who will play Calvin, Whitfield, who will portray Jules, Ursula O. Robinson (Hightown), who will play Delinda, George Middlebrook who will play Officer Trackson, Xavier Small (Eidetic) who will play Angel, Joy Rovaris (The Neighborhood) who will play Gillian and Ashley Versher (PillowTalk), who will play Lena.
As per TVLine, Perry produced, wrote and directed Beauty in Black. This project marks the first TV series to emerge from his partnership with Netflix since October 2023 when Perry stuck a multi-year deal with the streamer, which has only produced films.
Currently, there is no concrete release date for Beauty in Black.
