Young Hollywood elite Beanie Feldstein is heading to the small screen, with the actress set to guest star on Grey’s Anatomy Thursday night. The Booksmart star will play a new intern at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital whom Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) takes under his wing.
Little information regarding Feldstein’s appearance on the long-running ABC medical drama has been revealed. As seen in an episode preview posted by the Grey’s Anatomy account on Twitter, she will play Tess Desmond, an intern under Dr. Webber. The clip shows Webber practicing a Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), which prompts her to ask why, considering he has done “a million” of them. After he replies he is only an expert due to extensive practice, she replies, “I just don’t get it. Those residents, they work their butts off, they go into a mountain of debt all for a chance at the greatest job on the planet and they treat it like it’s retail.”

Feldstein is best known for her leading role in Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart last year alongside Kaitlyn Dever, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a comedy or musical. She additionally starred in 2017’s Ladybird, the first film from director Greta Gerwig, as well as a recurring role on FX’s What We Do in the Shadows. Upcoming roles for the actress include a lead in the British comedy How to Build a Girl, as well as playing white house intern Monica Lewinsky in season three of American Crime Story, subtitled Impeachment, which will detail the Clinton sex scandal of the late 1990s.
ABC has not revealed any further details regarding Feldstein’s character, including how many episodes the actress will appear in. Audiences have kept up with the staff of Grey’s Anatomy for nearly fifteen years since its premiere in March 2005. The series now finds itself in its sixteenth season, and has been renewed through the end of its next season in 2021.
