A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder has found its Pip. According to Deadline, BBC recently announced that Emma Myers (Girl in the Basement, Southern Gospel) has been cast as the protagonist of the new adaptation of Holly Jackson’s (Kill Joy, As Good as Dead) A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder.
According to Deadline, Myers will star as Pip Fitz-Amobi, an intelligent and single-minded woman. The story follows Pip as she starts questioning the five-year-old murder of schoolgirl Andie Bell. Pip will start to question if Andie was really murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh or if there had been a mistake and the real killer was still on the loose. How far will Pip go to find the truth?
Besides Myers, it has also been announced that newcomer Zain Iqbal has been cast to play Ravi in the mystery thriller adaptation. Poppy Cogan (Chloe, The Fold), best known for her contributions to the series Red Rose, is writing and executive producing for the show alongside Dolly Wells (Good Posture, Dracula) who will be directing and executive producing. Other executive producers include the book author Jackson, Matthew Bouch (The Witcher, Da Vinci’s Demons), Matthew Read (Obsession, Curfew), Lucy Richer (Time, Best Interests), Danielle Scott-Haughton (Dear Jesus, The Alexis Show), and Frith Tiplady (The Good Karma Hospital, Peaky Blinders).
Fiona Campbell, the Controller of Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer, and BBC Three talked about the decision to cast Myers and Iqbal in the main roles of the new show. She said, “In Emma and Zain we’ve found two actors who embody the characters so perfectly it will feel as though they’ve stepped straight from the pages of Holly’s books on to our screens. I can’t wait for BBC Three viewers to see them in action.”
A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder will start filming in England later this year. The adaptation was written by Cogan alongside newcomer Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke (Doctor Who: Redacted), and Ruby Thomas (Settling), and is produced by newcomer Florence Walker.
A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is still in pre-production and no release date has been announced. In the meantime, watch Myers play Enid Sinclair the werewolf roommate of Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday.
