BBC America Releases ‘Orphan Black’ Season 4 Teaser Trailer

Just when you think the TV season is winding down for its winter hiatus, we have another reason to start get excited for spring. On Dec. 25, BBC America released a teaser trailer for the fourth season of Orphan Black as a little present to all the fans. And, well, lets just say it’s called a teaser for a reason.

The creators and writers are clearly keeping fans in the dark on what to expect from the upcoming season. But the fans aren’t the only ones. The actors admitted to Deadline that they are only informed of the “monumental” moments in the series, but each episode seems to be just as much as surprise to the actors as it is to the viewers.

Orphan Black is a BBC series that follows the life of Sarah Manning played by Tatiana Maslany. But Sarah isn’t the only character Maslany plays because the premise of the show follows Manning discovering there are several other women who look exactly like her. The characters Sarah, Alison, Helena, Cosima, and Rachel all look alike because they are, in fact, clones.

Variety interviewed co-creator John Fawcett back in June, and he revealed a little bit about what fans might expect from the upcoming season. He said, “I want from season four a vibe of season one again. I want a lot of that paranoia back, and Sarah following a first-person mystery, and a feeling of not knowing where we stand again, and having the audience not know where we stand. When Graeme [Manson, series co-creator,] and I talked about it, it was like, ‘How do we give it a feeling of conclusion after three seasons and now push towards our bigger mystery?’ We just wanted a reset after season three and a big emotional ending.”

The show has been very successful and built a strong fan base, but it sounds like the creators want to get back to the basics and try to recreate the original feel of the show that initially hooked so many viewers.

Orphan Black returns premieres on BBC America in April, 2016.
