On the hills of Anchivo Motors coming to Netflix, Deadline reports the streamer will gear up for more adult animated content. This fall, Brian Tyree Henry (Dope Thief, Atlanta) will star and executive producer Bass X Machina. The new series is set for an October 6 premiere.
The versatile actor who came to prominence on FX’s award-winning series, Atlanta, will voice the lead character, Bass. According to Deadline, the show is set in the Steampunk West, where lawlessness rules. A father must become all three branches of justice to defend his family from various outlaws and dark forces of man and magic.
Deadline reports the voice cast includes Tati Gabrielle (The 100, The Last of Us) as Dana, legendary voice actor Cree Summer (A Different World, Voltron: Legendary Defender) as Ahni; Janelle Monáe (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Moonlight) as Glory; Chaske Spencer (Dark Winds, The Twilight Saga) as Lighthorse; Starletta DuPois (The Notebook, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure) as Etta; and Currie Graham (Reacher, Assault on Precinct 13) as Rivenbark.
According to Deadline, Henry is joined by executive producers LeSeasn Thomas (Cannon Busters, Justice League Action), Chad Handley (The Righteous Gemstones, The Dark) and Jennifer Wiley-Moxley (Shadow Force, Dope Thief). The animation will be handled by Studio Mir and original music from Wondaland’s Roman GianArthur (The ArchAndorid, “Classic Man”) and Nate Wonder (The Electric Lady, Antebellum soundtrack).
Deadline lists that Bass X Machina joins growing list of animation at the Tudum streamer. Henry’s series joins the likes of the award-winning Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai, which the latter will return for a second season; the recent two-season run of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft; and video adaptation’s of Devil May Cry and the illustrious Castlevania franchise, including four seasons of the original, and two of its spinoff, Nocturne.
Henry is an Emmy, Oscar and Tony-nominated actor whose range extends from to Apple TV’s Dope Thief and Netflix’s Big Mouth, to feature films like Marvel’s Eternals and The Fire Inside.
