With only five episodes of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms so far, the series has gained a newfound sense of notoriety. However the fate of one of the characters could bring about the fate of another character. Spoilers ahead for any who have not seen the series.
For those who don’t know, the series tells a story that takes place between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. We follow the tale of Ser Duncan the Tall a wandering Hedge Knight that has found his way into a jousting tournament in Ashford meadows. Accompanying him on his journey is boy named Egg, who is later revealed to be Aegon Targaryen. Throughout his journey Ser Duncan encounters many people as he is trying to get someone to vouch for him to enter the tournament, he ends up running into Baelor Targaryen the son of King Daeron II and heir to the Iron Throne. Ser Duncan gets into an altercation with the king’s grandson Aerion Targaryen and has been sentenced to a trial of 7 where he and six other knights must fight against Aerion’s six knights. Baelor decides to take Duncan’s side in the trial and in doing so he is killed by his brother Maekar Targaryen.
Despite Baelor’s death being a tragedy, it is said that his death will bring about some dire consequences. According to Comicbook, with Baelor dead the next king would have to fall to Maekar’s oldest son. However that could not come to be because it would be revealed that Maekar’s son Valarr and his brothers would die from the Great Spring Sickness. The next two off the list would be Aerion and Daeron who both die and the third son Aemon is said to be a maester and could not inherit the Iron Throne, leaving only Egg aka Aegon to inherit the Throne. If Baelor had lived Egg would not be next in line for the throne and his lineage would not have given birth to the Mad King thus saving the Targaryen Dynasty. Egg would be the grandfather of Aerys II who would later be dubbed the “Mad King” that is if the series intends to follow the books.
The cast consists of Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Bordeline), Finn Bennett (Warfare, Eye For An Eye), Dexter Sol Ansell (Here, Robin And The Hoods), Henry Ashton (A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, In The Room), Tanzyn Crawford (Under The Lights, Swift Street), Daniel Ings (Dressed To The Nines, The Woman In Cabin 10), Sam Spruell (H Is For Hawk, Dune: Prophecy), Bertie Carvel (The Crown, Pride & Prejudice), Edward Ashley (Masters Of The Air, The King), Daniel Monks (All Her Fault, Kaos), Steve Wall (Hidden Assets, Black Doves), Youssef Kerkour (Steve, Donkey), Danny Webb (On The Sea, Elden Ring: Nightreign), Shaun Thomas (The Choral, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children), and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (The Agency: Cenral Intelligence, What If…?).
