2025’s ATX TV Festival commences later this month with assorted programming, panels, and events targeting their “TV for grown-ups” attendees. According to an official press release, a newly added event will honor the Paramount+ series, Landman, with the inaugural “Texas Made” Award, presented in partnership with Media For Texas.
Inspired by the Texas Monthly and Imperative Entertainment podcast Boomtown, the series was created by Yellowstone scribe Taylor Sheridan and podcast host and writer, Christian Wallace (“It’s Hard Out Here — Way, Way, Way Out Here — for a Medic”). A classic primetime soap, the series follows an American-born tale of “fortune seeking amongst roughnecks and billionaires in the world of oil.”
Being primarily filmed in Texas, specifically Fort Worth, the show will be honored by the media advocacy and non-profit organization for its goal of building a thriving entertainment industry across the state.
After the award ceremony, series star and executive producer Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, Goliath), co-creator and EP Wallace, and cast member Jacob Lofland (Mud, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials) will discuss the series’ instant success as the most-watched original in Paramount+’s history.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, the show also stars Demi Moore (Ghost, The Substance), Andy Garcia (Stand and Deliver, The Mule), Sam Elliott (Tombstone, A Star is Born), Ali Larter (Heroes, Legally Blonde), Michelle Randolph (1923, The Resort), Paulina Chávez (Fate: The Winx Saga, The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia), Kayla Wallace (The Good Doctor, When Calls the Heart), country music artist Mark Collie (Fire Down Below, “Let Her Go”), James Jordan (Wind River, Those Who Wish Me Dead) and Colm Feore (Thor, House of Cards).
Debuting in 2024, Landman was quickly renewed for a second season. The complete first season is available on Paramount+.
The annual ATX TV Festival takes place in Austin, TX, from May 29 through June 1. For more information on how to attend visit atxfestival.com/attend.
