Netflix’s live‑action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has expanded its cast with the addition of Nabhaan Rizwan (In Camera, Kaos) and Claes Bang (The Square, Bad Sisters), who have joined the series as regulars, according to Deadline. The project continues to take shape as one of the streamer’s most ambitious genre titles, drawing from Ubisoft’s globally successful video game franchise.
The series is described as a “high‑octane thriller” centered on a secret war between two factions — one seeking to control humanity’s future through manipulation, and the other fighting to preserve free will. Deadline reports that the story spans pivotal historical eras, following characters whose choices influence the course of civilization. While details about Rizwan and Bang’s characters remain under wraps, the pair join previously announced cast members Lola Petticrew (Wolf, She Said), Toby Wallace (Babyteeth, Pistol), Zachary Hart (The Gallows Act II, The Rookie), Laura Marcus (The Diplomat, The Capture) and Tanzyn Crawford (Savage River, The Heights).
Rizwan, a two‑time BAFTA nominee, recently starred in BBC Films’ In Camera and portrayed Dionysus in Netflix’s Kaos. His additional television credits include the BBC dramas Dope Girls and Juice. He is represented by B‑Side Management and Production.
Bang is widely recognized for his acclaimed performance in Ruben Östlund’s The Square, which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as his role in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters. He will next appear in Billion Dollar Spy opposite Russell Crowe, Netflix’s The Secret Woman, and the German feature Ich ist ein Anderer. On television, he portrays pioneering surgeon Dr. Jakob Joseph in the German series Dr. Jakob. Bang is represented by UTA and Sharkey & Co.
The adaptation is led by showrunners Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Brave New World, Homecoming), who also executive produce alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O’Toole. With more than two hundred thirty million units sold worldwide, Assassin’s Creed remains one of the most successful video game franchises in history, making the Netflix series a highly anticipated addition to the platform’s lineup.
As development continues, the project aims to honor the franchise’s legacy while introducing new characters and storylines that expand the world for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
