AppleTV+ Announces ‘For All Mankind’ Season Five Plus A New Spinoff Series

AppleTV+ is taking viewers back into the depths of outer space yet again. According to Deadline, the series For All Mankind has been renewed for a fifth season. Furthermore, the streamer also greenlit a spinoff series that is titled Star City

The new spinoff series Star City, has been described as “a propulsive paranoid thriller”. According to Deadline, it will be centered around an alternative retelling of the history of the space race. This being a universe in which the Soviet Union was the first nation to put a man on the moon. The series will also be centered around the point of view of those who were behind the Iron Curtain. This being the engineers, cosmonauts, and intelligence officers who were a part of the Soviet space program.

The fourth and latest season of For All Mankind took place eight years after the events that the third season was about, capturing the high-stakes atmosphere that space exploration is a part of and the tensions of setting foot on Mars and sharing the resources with others.

Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, creators of the spinoff, shared their thoughts and passions towards the subject that the new series is about.n “Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of For All Mankind,” the two said, “the more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race. We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of For All Mankind with our partners at Apple and Sony.”

Matt Cherniss, the head of programming for Apple TV+, added to the excitement with his positive reaction and anticipation towards the new season of For All Mankind. He added: “With each new season, For All Mankind continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high-quality storytelling that has been so skillfully developed by Ron, Matt, and Ben. There is so much to explore and, we along with our partners at Sony, can’t wait to dive into this next chapter of the engrossing For All Mankind universe.”

There is yet to be any update as to when the new content will be released or when production will begin.
