According to Deadline, Apple TV just announced a five-year exclusive deal with all things Peanuts, partnering with Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions through 2030. This deal will include all the classic Peanuts Library, plus plans for new Peanuts series and specials.
Apple TV has provided a home for the Peanuts since 2020, with some collaborations starting in 2018. According to mxdwn.com, in 2024, Apple TV+ addressed a sensitive issue regarding the Peanuts character Franklin in the TV special Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin. The special addressed Franklin’s odd placement as the lone character of color in the Peanuts’ original Thanksgiving special. The character Franklin was introduced in the beloved comic strip in 1968 and appeared in the made-for-TV special Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving. Currently, Apple TV and WildBrain will be working together on a new feature film starring Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang.
Tara Sorensen (Toot & Puddle, Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies), the head of children’s programming for Apple TV+, stated, “In this milestone 75th year, it feels incredibly meaningful to continue our collaborations with our brilliant partners at WildBrain, Peanut Worldwide and Lee Mendelson.” Sorensen said via Deadline. Our commitment, dedication and passion for Peanuts runs deep. These beloved characters and stories hold a timeless significance, resonating with people of all ages across the globe. And we are delighted that the iconic holiday specials will be available for everyone to experience, continuing this time-honored, comforting tradition.”
Deadline also noted that Apple TV+ will be streaming a few holiday specials for free to all viewers. On Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, 2025, we all will be able to enjoy It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. And A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be airing Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16. Finally, A Charlie Brown Christmas will stream for free on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 14.
