Apple TV+ To Adapt ‘Siegfried & Roy’ Podcast Into Limited Series

According to Deadline, Apple TV+ will be developing a limited series revolving around famed German-American magicians Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, based on the Apple original podcast, Wild Things: Siegfried and Roy. Currently, John Hoffman (Only Murders in the Building, The Emoji Movie) is slated to write and executive produce the series for Imagine Television.

Wild Things: Siegfried and Roy comes from the mind of Emmy-award winning filmmaker and journalist Steven Leckart, courtesy of At Will Media, and is one of the first Apple original podcasts. The series was released just earlier this year in January and focuses heavily on the complicated, mystical lives of Siegfried and Roy, who are best known for utilizing actual white lions and white tigers as part of their live, Las Vegas stage show: Siegfried and Roy at the Mirage Resort and Casino.

As Deadline writes, Hoffman’s show will be an hour-long series told from a variety of perspectives to stich together the real story behind the rise and fall of the famed magician duo. The pair’s heart-stopping magic show came to a dramatic and violent end on October 3, 2003, when Roy Horn was attacked mid-performance by a seven-year old white tiger by the name of Mantacore, an attack which would give him life-long injuries until his death in April of 2020.

Ron Howard (Thirteen Lives, A Beautiful Mind) and Brian Grazer (Tick, Tick…Boom!, The Spy Who Dumped Me), co-founders of Imagine Entertainment, are slated to executive produce the podcast adaptation, alongside Tony Hernandez (Fire Island, They Came Together), Lilly Burns (Emily in Paris, Search Party), Kristen Zolner (Easy, Friends From College), and James Seidman (Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Swagger). Will Malnati (Epic Fail, The Love Bomb with Nico Tortorella, executive producer of Wild Things: Siegfried and Roy, will also be executive producing the new series, as well as Steven Leckart, the podcast’s original filmmaker.
