Apple TV+ Sets Premiere Date For Animated Series ‘Strange Planet’

In 2019, Nathan W. Pyle (99 Stories I Could Tell: A Doodlebook To Help You Create, NYC Tips & Etiquette) released a webcomic and graphic novel titled Strange Planet. Due to Strange Planet‘s popularity, Pyle released second graphic novel titled Stranger Planet. It was announced in 2021 that Pyle, along with Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty, Community), would be creating an animated series for adults based on the franchise. According to Deadline, the adult animated show Strange Planet is set to premiere on August 9th.

Strange Planet will have 10 episodes in total, which will debut each Wednesday until September 27th. A trailer for the series has yet to be released.

As Deadline notes, the series is produced by both Apple Studios and the animation company ShadowMachine. Pyle and Harmon serve as executive producers of the series. Other executive producers include Lauren Pomerantz (Am I OK?, The Ellen DeGeneres Show), Steve Levy (Fever Pitch, The Ringer), Alex Bulkley (The Zodiac, Hell and Back), Amalia Levari (Harvey Beaks, Centaurworld), Corey Campodonico (BoJack Horsemen, Robot Chicken), and Taylor Alexy Pyle. For Taylor Alexy Pyle, Strange Planet is the first show that she has produced.

According to the description by Apple TV+, the series “is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own. Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions.”

The voice actors of the series include Tunde Adebimpe (Nasty Baby, Jump Tomorrow), Demi Adejuyigbe (The Good Place, Between Two Ferns: The Movie), Lori Tan Chinn (Turning Red, Orange Is the New Black), Danny Pudi (Community, Somebody I Used to Know), and Hannah Einbinder (Hacks, North Hollywood).

Fans can look forward to seeing Pyle’s graphic novels come to life on August 9th when the first episode of Strange Planet debuts on Apple TV+.
