According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Rogen’s (This is the End) Apple TV+ series The Studio has been renewed for a second season. The streamer renewed the series produced by Lionsgate Television two weeks ahead of its season finale.
“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of The Studio,” Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Sausage Party) said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons. And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.”
THR reports Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+ added, “Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of The Studio have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode. We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the Kool-Aid movie crushes at the box office.”
The Studio follows Matt Remick, a newly appointed head of a film production company called Continental Studios. Through the first season of the series, Matt realizes that he might be in over his head.
The series cast includes Catherine O’Hara (Home Alone), Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project) and Chase Sui Wonders (Bodies Bodies Bodies). The series also has a long list of cameos which includes Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing), Adam Scott (Severance), Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal), Antony Starr (The Boys), Arthur Keng (Lucky Hank), Bill Watterson (Dave Made a Maze), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Charli D’Amelio (The Simpsons), Charlize Theron (Tully) and many others that make an appearance throughout the series.
Rogen and Goldberg co-created the series with Peter Huyck (What Men Want), Alex Gregory (White House Plumbers) and Frida Perez (An American Pickle).
The Studio is available to stream on Apple TV+; the first season’s final episode airs on May 21.
