After months of speculation with tantalizing teasers, Apple TV has released the first full trailer for one of its most anticipated series. In his follow-up to AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan delivers Pluribus, starring Rhea Seehorn (StanLand, My Adventures with Superman). View the full trailer below.
The two-minute clip finds Seehorn’s Carol living in a world filled with an addictive happiness. However, Carol seems to want no part of the cultish joy that has strangers going to great lengths to ensure Carol’s most minimal wants are met. It soon becomes Carol’s mission to save the world from this toxic positivity.
According to the press release, the series, which was picked up for the now-common two-season order, finds Seehorn aligned with an all-star cast, including guest stars Samba Schutte (Parallel, Advanced Chemistry) and Miriam Shor (Magic Hour, American Fiction), Carlos-Manuel Vesga (The Luckiest Man in America, How to Succeed at Losing), and Karolina Wydra (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sneaky Pete).
The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Gilligan executive producing with Gordon Smith (Talking Bad, Better Call Saul), Alison Tatlock (Secretary, Stranger Things), Diane Mercer (El Camino, Help Me Help You), Allyce Ozarski (I Love That for You, Baskets), and Jeff Frost (California on Fire). Co-executive producers are Trina Siopy (The Night Shift, House of the Dragon) and Jenn Carroll (Men of a Certain Age, Childrens Hospital).
Seehorn lands this role after her Emmy-nominated take as Kim Wexler in AMC’s Better Call Saul, earning two Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nominations, as well as winning the Television Critics Association Award of Individual Achievement in Drama.
While much was not shared about the series as a whole, Gilligan teased a little about the show’s protagonist with Deadline earlier this year.
“I’m excited for audiences to see Rhea play a very different character than the character she played on Better Call Saul. She [Seehorn] plays someone who’s trying very hard to be good. She’s a bit of a damaged hero, but she’s a hero nonetheless. And it’s just a pleasure to work with her because she’s just the best, and she is so sweet and kind and talented. I can’t say enough good about her,” Gilligan stated.
Pluribus’s two-episode premiere arrives on November 7 with an episode released every Friday through December 26.
